Roaster's Description
This coffee was developed in partnership with the women producers of ARGCAFEE, an association founded in 2014 in Argelia, Cauca to improve market access and secure better prices for smallholder coffee farmers. What began with just 17 members has grown into a network of more than 230 producers working together to improve quality, infrastructure, and long-term economic opportunities within the region.
Today, seventy-eight women actively contribute to this program, with additional producers preparing to join. Through direct traceability and dedicated quality premiums, the Women Producer initiative ensures that the work of women farmers is recognized and rewarded appropriately. The benefits extend well beyond coffee production, supporting stronger families, more resilient communities, and greater opportunities for future generations.
This lot is also part of the Coca Substitution Program, an initiative that helps farming communities transition from illicit crops toward sustainable agricultural livelihoods. Through agronomic support, nursery development, technical training, and guaranteed premium purchasing, ARGCAFEE is helping create long-term economic stability for producers throughout the region.
Castillo and Colombia are two varieties widely cultivated throughout Colombia for their resilience, productivity, and cup quality. When grown with care and processed thoughtfully, they produce coffees that balance sweetness, structure, and approachability, making them ideal foundations for community lots such as this one.

Brew It Right
All coffees are sold exclusively as whole beans.
Grinding just before brewing preserves aromatics, structure, and clarity in the cup. For that reason, JONNY does not offer pre-ground coffee.
If you don’t yet own a grinder, consider this your sign. A proper grinder will elevate your coffee more than almost any other tool. (You’ll find a curated selection of hand grinders here.)
In the meantime, make friends with your local barista and ask them to grind the beans for your preferred brew method. They’ll understand.
Roast Date & Freshness

Freshness, With Intention
Every coffee lists its roast date. I am committed to offering beans at their optimal drinking window. Freshly roasted coffee needs time to rest:
• Filter coffee is typically best starting 7 days after roast.
• Espresso benefits from 10–14 days of rest for balance and stability.
Coffee remains vibrant for several months when stored properly, but for peak clarity and sweetness, I recommend enjoying it within 4 months of the roast date. To maintain high standards:
• Coffees that reach 6 weeks from roast are offered at a reduced price.
• Coffees that reach 12 weeks from roast are removed from inventory.
This ensures that what arrives at your door reflects the level of quality I stand behind.
